Afternoon Smoke Coming From Chesterfield County

The thick, sweet-smelling smoke that is visible in the eastern portion of the county Thursday afternoon has been attributed to two controlled burns by the S.C. Forestry Commission in neighboring Chesterfield County.
Several residents reported smoke in Buford and Flat Creek communities about lunchtime, but law enforcement and firefighters couldn’t find the source.
Russell Hubright, S.C. Forestry Commission forest management chief, said several planned burns are going on in Chesterfield County today.
